"Danny? Dani? Jazz?" calls Maddie from the living room. "Your father and I need to talk to you!"

She sounds cheerful, so probably no one's in trouble.

"Yeah, what's going on?" asks Danny, emerging from the kitchen with a slice of reheated pizza.

"We want all of you for this," declares Jack. "JAZZ!"

Maddie tsks. "I don't think she can hear us from the ops center. Would one of you fly up and get her?"

"Don't worry; I heard you," Jazz says as she steps through the living room doorway. "I just had to save something on my computer."

"Great! We've just received a distress signal call from the Colorado Mining Association. They've had reports of ghost activity in several mines in central Colorado. They've asked us to investigate."

"Mines? Really? Do they still have those?"

Jazz resists the urge to roll her eyes. "There are coal mines all over the United States, and the world, Danny."

Maddie continues: "We thought, as long as we've been asked out there, we can make a vacation of it! Our first family trip with all five of us! Won't that be fun?"

Dani jumps up and cheers. "All right! My first vacation!"

Who cares if they're going to Colorado? Vlad's gone, the chalet has probably already been repossessed by the bank.

This is going to be the best trip ever.
